  • Family Law Solicitor

    We currently have a vacancy for a full-time Family Law solicitor to join our team in our Livingston office. 

     

    A minimum of two years PQE in Family Law is desirable, together with relevant court experience. The successful candidate will handle their own caseload of family law cases, children’s referral cases and permanence cases. You should have experience of Legal Advice & Assistance, Children’s Legal Aid and Civil Legal Aid. You will be expected to advise on separation (marriage and civil partnership), aliment, financial provision on divorce and dissolution, procedure for divorce / dissolution, residence, contact and other s11 orders, children’s panel and referral proceedings and permanence actions.

     

    Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

  • Civil Court Paralegal

    We currently have a vacancy for a Paralegal to work in the busy Civil Court department in our Livingston office.

     

    The role is to work closely with the Partner and Solicitors in the family court department, providing them with a high standard of support handling a wide variety of cases. This is an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal to develop their career in a well established legal firm.

     

    Candidates must have experience of working in a civil/family court department as a Paralegal, good knowledge of family court procedures, including separation, divorce, contact, interdict, permanence and children’s referrals; excellent IT skills and strong administration skills; a professional manner and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people; the ability to work unsupervised in a proactive fashion, using good time management skills. Experience of Civil Advice and Assistance and Civil Legal Aid preferable.

    The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties which might reasonably be expected and which form part of the function of the role.

  • Legal Secretary

    We currently have a vacancy for a Legal Secretary to work in our busy Civil Court and Conveyancing Departments in our Livingston office.

     

    Working hours will be 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (1 hour for lunch).

     

    Daily duties will include administrative support to one or more lawyers within the firm, audio typing and compiling letters and documents using digital dictation - speed and accuracy are essential. Includes but is not limited to the preparation of drafting conveyancing documents, Power of Attorney, Wills, Initial Writs, Defences, Records, Productions, etc. Managing multiple diaries to include arranging meetings and appointments and facilitate the meeting of deadlines, providing timely reminders. Photocopying and document collation. Answering incoming calls. Dealing with client telephone enquiries. Handling confidential information. Filing, fax/email and general administrative work. Banking payments received from clients or third parties.

     

    The successful candidate must have an excellent professional working manner; the ability to work under pressure and remain focussed; the ability to communicate on all levels and maintain confidentiality of information at all times; the ability to carry out instructions; show initiative and communicate progress; excellent organisational and administration skills, word processing and IT skills; excellent spelling and grammar, accuracy and attention to detail; the ability to use your own judgement and initiative; the ability to work in a busy environment.

     

    The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties which might reasonably be expected and which form part of the function of the role.
